Price directors refuse to remove mermaid
Editor,
There has been a request to relocate the mermaid statue at the Price Center. The board of directors for the Price Center voted unanimously to keep the sculpture. However, there are many people who find it is inappropriate for it to be located on this historical property and would like to see it relocated to a more appropriate location.
The Price Center includes a functioning fully restored historical church that has been designated an official historical building within the city. The Price Center should be represented by its historical significance.
This is a copy of the original petition: The City of San Marcos (“The City”), has recently implemented a plan to locate approximately ten uniquely painted sculptures of Mermaids in various physical places within the City. One of these mermaid sculptures was placed by the City in a very prominent place at the intersection of West San Antonio and Comanche Streets on the lawn where the Price Center is situated. The Price Center includes a functioning, fully restored historical church that has been designated an official historic building within the City. Marie Jager filed this petition to the board of directors and all who are interested in the petition.
