Thursday, November 21, 2019

Two City of San Marcos Electric Utility (SMEU) Lineworkers, Alonzo (AJ) Longoria and Darin Koehler, have completed the Northwest Lineman College Lineworker Training Program.

The Lineworker Training Program consists of 40 tests taken over four years, totaling 906 hours of training. Subjects covered include applied mathematics, overhead conductors, substations and vegetation management.

Longoria and Koehler join Lineworkers David Gaona, Thomas Medrano, Eddie Cunningham, Juan Gonzalez and Jorge Holguin, who completed their training program in February 2019.

“This training is essential to maintaining high standards of service to our Electric Utility customers,” said Distribution Manager Scott King, “AJ and Darin are a great example of the hard work, dedication, and safety standards all of our lineworkers display when they represent our City.”

SMEU requires lineworker training for all the employees in the lineworker apprenticeship program.
