HOLIDAYS IN KYLE: City of Kyle to host Mary Kyle Hartson Park Ribbon Cutting, Santa's arrival

The City of Kyle is inviting the public to its Mary Kyle Hartson Park Ribbon Cutting and Santa’s Arrival on Wednesday.

The City of Kyle welcomes families and friends for the official kickoff to the holiday season in Kyle from 4:30-9 p.m. at Mary Kyle Hartson Park, 101 South Burleson Street. Wednesday’s event includes holiday music performances by local school choirs, photo opportunities, food vendors and free activities for children.

The City of Kyle has invited Santa to take part in the downtown tree lighting event at Mary Kyle Hartson Park since 1999.

Santa’s Arrival attendees will be offered a first pick of retired city street signs at a discounted price of $20 each, the city said. Additionally, signs will also be on sale on the Kyle Style online shop for $25 each from Dec. 6-10.

The ribbon cutting ceremony for Mary Kyle Hartson Park and downtown tree lighting begins at 6 p.m. and will include remarks from Mayor Pro Tem Rick Koch, Councilmember Robert Rizo and Mayor Travis Mitchell.

Santa will be available to visit with and take pictures at the Krugg Center throughout the event. Professional photos will be done by Bailey Christian Studios, which will have multiple holiday photo packages available at various prices ranging from $30-$100.

The line for photography at Santa’s Arrival will be cut off at 8:30 p.m. Other Santa photo opportunities, however, will be available in December at Mary Kyle Hartson Park.

The Kyle Parks and Recreation Department will host the 25 Days of Christmas throughout December, including nightly holiday lights, Christmas music, live music, vendors, Santa photo opportunities at Mary Kyle Hartson Park. The City of Kyle said its parks and recreation department is searching for volunteers all month, beginning with Santa’s Arrival on Wednesday until Dec. 23 for a multitude of winter and holiday events and activities at Mary Kyle Hartson Park.
