Carl Wesley Lohn

Carl Wesley Lohn

(1968-2018)
Sunday, October 28, 2018

Carl Wesley Lohn, 50, passed peacefully during the early hours of Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018. A celebration of his life will be held at his family’s home sometime in the new year at a time still to be determined.

He was born in San Marcos, Texas on April 26, 1968 to Larry and Carolyn Lohn. Carl was a lot like his daddy — always kind to strangers or those in need and possessing an innate skill for mechanical things. From his momma, he inherited a wild curiosity for life and learning and a love of art in all of its iterations.

At first glance, Carl tended to give off a “Marlboro Man” vibe, with his tattered cowboy hat and well worn boots. But beneath his rugged exterior, Carl had a “Renaissance Man” mind. You might just as easily catch him reading the classics or cooking a soufflé as you would find him welding airplane parts or baling hay. His quiet demeanor belied a wicked sense of humor that was often revealed by his sparkling eyes and crooked grin.

Carl earned an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from Del Mar College and found joy cooking for presidents and paupers alike. He is survived by his mother Carol, brother Chris and sister-in-law Vlada, and sister Sarah. His extended family also includes Jan Röhmer of Switzerland, Maja Blumenhage of Germany and Olga Kriuchkov of Ukraine. His family would like to thank all of Carl’s kind friends and caretakers for all of their support during his illness.
