Darlene Shockley O’Bryant

Darlene O’Bryant passed away on April 4, 2021 at the age of 74. She was born on July 28, 1946 and spent most of her youth living in Pasadena, Texas.

She started working for Thermon Manufacturing Company in Houston in 1968 and moved to San Marcos when Thermon moved their operations there in 1970. Darlene met KO at Thermon and they were married on February 29, 1996. She said she chose that date so they would only have to celebrate their anniversary every 4 years. She worked for Thermon for 45 years, retiring in August, 2012, and spent the past 8 years with KO on their property in Kyle, which they both loved. While at Thermon, Darlene worked in finance and then in operations as an administrative assistant and then as the purchasing agent and inventory control for the maintenance department.

Although she was a crucial part of the maintenance group, many people will remember her for two other prominent roles that she loved. She was the leader of the Thermon Employees Credit Union for about 30 years and was also the chief elf in charge of organizing the Thermon Children’s Christmas party, which she did from the time it started in the early 70’s until she retired in 2012.

Darlene put a lot of pride and passion in to her work and was incredibly efficient at every task she took on. She will be fondly remembered by all and will certainly be missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00PM, Wednesday, April 21st, at Pennington Funeral Home in San Marcos.
