Dixie Lee Tombaugh Dabelgott

Dixie Lee Tombaugh Dabelgott, a San Marcos, TX, native, passed away on July 8, 2018. She was 85. Born in 1933 to Albert and Lurline Tombaugh, Dixie was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Billie Tombaugh Ewing and Mary Tombaugh Leifeste. In 1953 she married Bobby Joe Dabelgott, who preceded her in death in 2005. Dixie is survived by her children David Andrew Dabelgott (Diana) of New Braunfels, Susan Dabelgott Wagner of San Marcos and Bonnie Dabelgott Thompson (Clay) of Wentsville, MO, sister-in-law Helen Dabelgott (Howard), and their families, including 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Dixie graduated with the San Marcos High School class of 1951, where she was a majorette/cheerleader. She was also one of the original mermaids at Aquarena Springs. Dixie went on to a 30+ year career in banking most of which was at Kyle State Bank, formerly Citizens State Bank. She was passionate about balancing the books to the penny each day and enjoyed visiting with all the patrons of the bank. Dixie loved going to College Station and watching her beloved Aggies until her health declined.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Legends Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 28 at the Kyle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice.
