Dr. David L. Burgum

Dr. David L. Burgum of Kyle, Texas passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at the age of 81. He was born March 1, 1937 in Fargo, North Dakota to Leland S. and Ruth (Hoeger) Burgum.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joy Burgum, and his sister, Joyous Harkenrider.  

He is survived by two daughters, Sonya Kennedy and husband Mark of Missouri City, and Eva Burgum of Kyle; brother, Alex Burgum of San Marcos; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He graduated from San Marcos High School and from Southwest Texas College, and completed medical school at UT Galveston.  After serving in the army from 19 63-1965, he began his medical career. For 40 years, Dr. Burgum was a practicing Neurologist and Psychiatrist. He married his wife on June 2, 1958 at the Grace Lutheran Church in San Marcos. Before she passed away, they took many trips to the mountains, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Later in life, he was an avid reader.

Dr. Burgum’s life will be celebrated at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at the Chapel at the San Marcos City Cemetery.
