Mary Sue Randow

Mary Sue Randow of Manchaca, Texas, passed away on Dec. 16, 2018, at the age of 82. She was born to Leon and Theda (Modesette) Albrecht in Rockdale, Texas on April 11, 1936.

Sue graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics in 1957. She married Elton Joe Randow on June 1 of that year, and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage until his death in 2017. Sue taught in Comfort, Rockport and Hays CISD. She and Joe were members of the Rockport UMC for 25 years. In 1984, when they moved to Manchaca, they joined the Manchaca UMC, where she especially enjoyed being part of the craft group. She was also known for her baking. Sue passed this skill on to her granddaughters, as well as her love of playing games and teaching them crocheting, knitting and sewing.  She also enjoyed doing puzzles and Sudoku. She was kind and giving, with a wonderful sense of humor.

Her parents and her husband, Elton Joe Randow (2017) preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Keith of Austin; sisters, Peggy Newman (Shelby) of Stephenville, Nola Doyle (Boyett) of San Marcos and Rita Albrecht of San Antonio.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Meredith Westbrook and Madeleine Westbrook.

Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home at 2 p.m.., Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, and a celebration of Sue’s life will follow at 3 p.m., with Rev. Andy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the San Marcos City Cemetery.
