Pete Alvarado Mendoza Jr., 59, joined heaven’s army Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 surrounded by his family. Pete was born Jan. 16, 1959 in San Marcos, TX to the late Pedro and Susie Mendoza.
Pete served the IRS for 35 years. Pete was known as Cat to his friends but best known as Po to grandson Jayce.
Pete leaves behind his wife, Rebecca Alderete Mendoza; 3 sons, Moses Moreno and wife, Marisela of Del Valle, Pete Mendoza III and wife, Melissa of San Marcos, and Daniel-Paul Mendoza and wife, Jade of San Marcos; daughter, Marina Helms and husband, David of Leander; 2 brothers, Paul Rios and wife, Esabel of San Marcos, and Danny Mendoza and wife, Elizabeth of Jerrell; 4 sisters, Elia Marmolejo and husband, Peter of San Marcos, Sylvia Mendoza of San Marcos, Rosie Mendoza and Rick Garza of San Marcos, and Cynthia Kilstrom and husband, Matt of Kyle.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ualani Moreno, Ariana Barcomb, Nathanael Helms, Jayce Mendoza, Adelina Moreno, and Christian Cisneros; and great-grandchild, Azariah Moreno Shed.
Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home, 4. to 6:30 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, in the Pennington Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the San Marcos City Cemetery concluding with a fellowship meal at First Presbyterian Church located at 410 W Hutchison.
