Shirley Ann Smith

Shirley Ann Smith passed away Wednesday, April 24th, 2019.

She was born in McKeesport, PA August 28, 1944. She grew up in Derry, PA with her parents, Carl & Jean, and was their only child.

She moved to Texas with her mom around the age of 15 and attended Grand Prairie High School where she enjoyed singing in the Acapella Choir. She married James D. Smith in 1964 and moved to Ft. Worth where they had their three daughters before moving to San Marcos in 1970.

Her hobbies included sewing and macramé as well as outdoor items like camping, fishing, boating and vacationing at their fishing cabin. She spent time with her mother and her eight grandchildren who they called Grammy or Nana.

She is survived by her three daughters, Marjorie Denise Bowman and her husband John and three children, Grant, Preston and Grace Ann; Lora Maria Cantwell and her husband William and two children, Bill and James; and Lisa Renee Gamez and her husband Rudy and three children, Loren, Morgan and Jourdan.

As for services, she had always preferred something small and private with immediate family & close friends. Like our father, we plan to spread her ashes out in the bay near their favorite fishing areas, so we will carry out those wishes in honor of their happiest moments and memories.

She will be deeply missed.
