Handing out some thanks

Letter to the Editor
Wednesday, August 8, 2018

Editor,

I wanted to take a moment and thank a few community members:

Thank you Will Conley & Ruben Becerra for running good clean campaigns for Hays County Judge. How refreshing. Both gentlemen have the best intentions for our community and I thank them for keeping it relatively civil at a time when we all witness, (more & more it seems) the worst from political candidates on all sides and at all levels of government. As we slide into November, I hope all of our candidates running for local office will follow their example. *Ahem.*

Thank you to Councilwoman Lisa Prewitt, Councilwoman Jane Hughson, Chief of Police Chase Stapp, and City Manager Bert Lumberers for their efforts in tightening the 2014 truck ordinance on West Hopkins Street, and for their continued enforcement operations along this neighborhood street. THANK YOU!

Your efforts are beginning to make a difference.

Lastly, and long overdo, I’d like to thank the staff at the SMDR for their continued efforts to make our community better through civic engagement, dialog with your readers & subscribers, and your commitment to great journalism. Robin, your reporting is tremendous — thank you for your tireless efforts! You all rock, and I want to say thank you all for replacing the cat news cartoon. ;)

This is a great community — thank you for making it even better.
