Letter to the Editor

Sunday, November 8, 2020

Editor's note: Mr. Enriquez's letter that appeared in the Nov. 1 edition of the Daily Record was edited to follow guidelines established that prevent against endorsing candidates by name with voting underway.

Editor,

First of all, my apologies to those who read my letter to the editor this past Sunday. They did a chop-chop job by deleting and omit many sentences. This is not my style of writing.

The middle, or third paragraph, should have read: Ms. Hughson only represents .05% (the people who live around Hopkins Street) while the rest of us, 99.5% are screwed because we can't use their streets. According to one of her supporters, the rest of us are referred to as "scum and garbage." Well, let's show Ms. Hughson what "scum and garbage" can do. If she really "wants to make life better for the citizens of San Marcos," open up Belvin, San Antonio, Blanco and other streets in that area.

My last paragraph was about the Arredondos. I have known them since I was a kid. Miguel's great grandfather, Don Juan Arredondo (Don with a long o) was a great businessman. He literally built his house (as he would tell us, block by block), and it's still standing on Cheatham Street. I worked for him at his Acapulco Restaurant on South Interstate 35.

By the way, I read how some of the candidates who ran for office, were "helped" by special interest groups from out of town. Just what is their interest in these candidates? Land development? Tax breaks? The key to our city? C'mon folks, use your brains, and let's vote for the most qualified candidate. Let's vote for Miguel Arredondo for Mayor of San Marcos. He truly is for San Marcos, ALL of San Marcos.

Sincerely,

Ezekiel Enriquez Sr.
