Letters to the Editor

Sunday, November 29, 2020

Jane Hughson, our current San Marcos mayor, deserves to be reelected for another term. She has served our community well with intelligence and dignity and attention to detail — a combination that is desirable but too often rare.

Hughson does extensive research before meetings and thus is prepared and ready with solutions for problems. When needed, she finds compromises to work together with those affected by the situation. She is not a grand-stander and so the work she does is not always readily noticed except by those involved.

As a community, we should show more admiration for those willing to run for office for the good of the community. Most voters do not realize how time consuming and difficult it is just to run for election. Designing and purchasing signs, putting them up, contacting potential voters, and attending debates are just some of the necessary activities even before the election.

Then if elected, there are volumes of papers to read, research to be done, and endless meetings to attend. All these efforts are costly in time and in dollars and then have to be repeated in a matter of a few years when the elected term is up.

We voters want elected officials to be knowledgeable, dependable, and above all honest. Jane Hughson fulfills all these requirements and fulfills them well.

We owe her thanks for the job she has done as our mayor and I’m hoping that voters will show their appreciation by re-electing her to the office of mayor so that she can continue the necessary work to improve our city.

Editor, Some people have said that truth is the oxygen of a true democracy, and that freedom is the blood that gives it life. Yet everywhere Americans are being censored for illegitimate reasons. Why? Does money really buy truth and power? Or does belonging to certain special privileged groups and societies or fraternities provide exceptions to the rules and laws of the land? Do I need to wear a certain kind of signet ring to be above the law? Do I need to walk and talk and dress like the Masters say? Then where is truth and freedom if not in journalism and America right now? This is why I support President Donald Trump even though I know he is a "Hazard" to America an American politics. However, at least he has spoken truth to powers that be and the communist socialist globalist elites that carve their rich knives into our flesh everyday and slowly bleed our freedoms, our sovereignty, and lifestyle into the paupers grave of debt and poverty. At least he has pointed out the obvious about much of the corruption in American Industrialist Military complex for making wars. And he himself has said that if America would go back to war with Iraq, that this time make sure to take control of their oil. But, what has he done to make affordable housing more affordable and giving equal opportunities to the poor and marginalized as well? President Trump has given a great voice to American Christians, therefore, I give him a high grade for that, notwithstanding the negatives. He also helped Jerusalem in Israel to be Israel's! Nevertheless, politicians are politicians just like scientist and evolutionist. Which ever way the wind blows that's where they go. So, I give President Trump an A+++ for taking on the scientist that believe that they are infallible. We are all human beings and after a day or two without bathing, all of us will start to give off a pungent Oder. So in conclusion, I believe President Trump has lost presidential election and we need to fight for American moral rights or this cesspool will continue to overflow and drown us in liberal globalism and with greedy Industrialist who desire a slave workforce, and who with illuminating pride... rape the land and mow down trees as if we have plenty more. And they cry about climate change! But, I still believe in redemption and redeeming the times.

Respectfully,

Ruben Natal Gutierrez
