Support candidates not beholden to developers

Dear Editor,

I was appalled to read the accounts of financial backing for some of the candidates running for city council seats. They will pledge their allegiance to the developers who are backing them. My question is who will they represent — the developers or the citizens of San Marcos?

It is very taxing to resist development plans presented. We must be vigilant against such activity in that developers have their “sights” on San Marcos. Our family experienced the “development fever” several years ago. It was not pretty and enlisted many of the neighborhood advocates for eliminating the plans to destroy our area. Reasonable development is welcomed but not the issues that negate our neighborhoods.

Our votes are backing those candidates who are not “controlled” by developers.
