The Bobcats will once again go to make history as Texas State hosts Georgia Southern in hopes of earning the first six-win season and qualify for a bowl game.

For Texas State and Head Coach G.J. Kinne, all eyes will be on the Georgia Southern offense who is second behind the Bobcats in scoring offense.

“It starts with their quarterback,” Kinne said. “He can really throw it and he has a strong arm. He is really good in the quick immediate game. They have really good receivers and good depth at the receiver position. It’s not just one or two guys; they have a lot of them.”

Helming the Eagles passing attack is quarterback Davis Brin, who transferred in from Tulsa and is a native of Boerne. He has thrown for 2,456 yards with 17 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Brin’s main target is Khaleb Hood who leads the team in catches, yards and touchdowns with 66 catches for 681 yards and four touchdowns.

Derwin Burgess Jr. is second for the Eagles, with 49 catches for 530 yards and four touchdowns.

The Eagles also have four receivers with over 100 yards receiving.

Jalen White leads the Georgia Southern rushing attack with 106 carries for 591 yards and six touchdowns.

This is the seventh alltime meeting between Georgia Southern and Texas State with the Eagles leading the all-time series at 5-1.

Texas State’s lone win against Georgia Southern is perhaps the most memorable game in the series , when the two teams met in the first round of the FCS Playoffs in 2005.

Texas State defeated the powerhouse Eagles, 50-35, for the Bobcats first FCS playoff win and first playoff win since 1982.

Since joining the Sun Belt in 2014, the Eagles have won all five of the conference meetings against the Bobcats.
