The Bobcats closed out the TXST Tournament in emphatic fashion as Texas State defeated the Texas Tech Red Raiders 8-1.

After two tough losses to both Tulsa and Texas Tech on Saturday, the dominant win over the Red Raiders on Sunday was what the Bobcats and left fielder Ciara Trahan needed.

“It was really big,” Trahan said. “Going into this weekend, we didn’t have the outcomes that we wanted, but we came together as a team and figured out what we were doing and how to change it.” With the win, Texas State improves to 8-4 overall with their first win over Tech since the 2021 season.

“It proved to us what we can be,” Woodard said. “Every day is a choice on who we are going to be. I didn’t like the whole feel of yesterday start to finish, and we wasted two games in my opinion. Today we made the choice to do things differently, and we got a different outcome.”

After Texas Tech tied the game up with a solo home run in the third inning to tie the game up at 1-1, the Bobcats responded by scoring three runs in the bottom of the third inning to up Texas State up 4-1.

Trahan broke the game up in the bottom of the fourth with a bases clearing RBI triple to make 7-1 before Texas State tacked on another run in the 5th. The Bobcats will be back on the road this weekend to participate in the Arizona State/Grand Canyon Tournament this weekend.
