Local track star qualifies for AAU Junior Olympics

San Marcos local Jaxon Canady qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics Games Track and Field Competition after placing in the top six of the 800-meter run in the 8 and under division at the AAU Regional Qualifier in Converse, Texas.

Canady, who runs for Run Baby Run in Hays County, competes in the 200-meter run, 400-meter run, and the 800-meter run earning medals in both the 800 and 400.

The Junior Olympics will take place in Des Moines, Iowa on the campus of Drake University July 1 through August 5.

The Olympics is considered one of the largest multi-sport events for track and field athletes of the ages 8-18 having taken place since 1967 featuring 12 sporting competitions.

Canady is currently a student at Crockett Elementary in San Marcos and is the son of Alyssa Rodriguez and Aaron Canady.

While he is not running on the track, Canady plays multiple sports in football, soccer and track.

Some of his favorite hobbies include spending time with his family and playing with his dog Miles.
