Texas State was one of just 11 Division I women’s programs to receive a United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics and Sportsmanship laurel, the team announced last week.

The award has four levels to it, determined by the percentage of yellow and red cards a team received relative to the number of matches it played: platinum, for teams that did not receive any cards this season, gold, for teams with 10 percent or less, silver, for teams between 11 and 30 percent and bronze for teams between 31 and 50 percent.

The Bobcats picked up just four cards during its 20 matches, earning them the silver honor at 20 percent. Texas State was the only team who did not receive a card during conference play. Two cards came during the Sun Belt tournament, the other two coming within the first four games of the season.

A total of 104 men’s and women’s collegiate teams earned the accolade. Air Force, Bryant, Florida Atlantic, Hofstra, Maine, Nicholls, South Carolina, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas A&M and Winthrop were the only other Division I women’s teams to join the Bobcats.
