The Bobcats were swept in their conference-opening series at Little Rock, falling 2-1 in 11 innings on Friday, 12-0 on Saturday and 7-4 on Sunday.

Texas State trailed 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning of Saturday’s game, but got two runners in scoring position after sophomore designated hitter Jose Gonzalez drew a walk and junior shortstop Dalton Shuffield doubled to left field. Both runner advanced on a balk during the next at-bat, tying the game at 1-1.

Neither side brought another runner across over the next six innings. Senior second baseman Jaxon Williams connected on single to lead off the top of the 11th, but wasn’t brought home. Trojans sophomore centerfielder Tyler Williams took the first pitch he saw in the bottom of the frame and sent it over the left field fence for a walk-off home run. Freshman right-handed pitcher Otto Wofford (1-1) took his first loss of the season.

Little Rock (9-7, 3-0 Sun Belt) rode the momentum into Saturday’s game, swinging for 16 hits and giving up just seven to the Bobcats. Texas State left eight runners on base and were shut out of the game, falling 12-0. Redshirt freshman right-hander Cameron Bush (1-2) received the loss.

The maroon and gold seemed to rebound early in Sunday’s game, as junior first baseman Wesley Faison and graduate designated hitter Bryce Bonner both swung for RBI singles in the top of the first. But the visitors went another seven frames without crossing home again, allowing Little Rock to jump in front, 5-2. The Bobcats scored another two runs after Williams singled to left field with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth, but the hosts matched them in the bottom of the frame. Texas State got two runners in scoring position but failed to bring either of them home, losing 7-4. Redshirt sophomore RHP Matthew Nicholas (0-1) was tacked with his first loss of the year.

The Bobcats (8-13) have yet to win on the road this season. The team will look to bounce back on Wednesday when it hosts Oklahoma (12-7) inside Bobcat Ballpark at 6 p.m.
