Why is this story #3?

Not since Allex Austin in 2012 had a Rattler Track athlete qualified for the UIL state Track Meet and performed at Mike Myers Stadium.

Having competed at the Clyde Littlefield Relays earlier in the year, Exavion Harris was determined to return back to Myers Stadium after falling just short in at the Region IV Meet last year.

Yet Harris defined the odds to become the first San Marcos track athlete in over a decade to qualify for the State Meet finishing in 2nd place in Triple Jump at the 6A Region IV Track Meet.

Harris’ run to the State Track Meet ended with the now Lamar Cardinal finishing in 4th place.

But despite the finish, breaking a decade long drought is worth being named as one of the stories of the year.
