The San Marcos Rattlers baseball team came in with high expectations into the 2023 season bolstered by a heavy upperclassmen roster.

The Rattlers exceeded those expectations by not only qualifying for the playoffs but also winning the District Championship for the first time in years.

However, the Rattlers were tasked with a tough out in the Bi-District round with the San Antonio Churchill Chargers.

With San Marcos winning the first game, Churchill bounced back in Game Two to force Game Three in winner take all.

The intense game also brought high emotions as both benches cleared following a physical play at the home plate in the fourth inning which saw two ejections.

To add into the craziness, the game was rained out with the score tied at 1-1 which forced both teams to move to another stadium to finish out the game.

In the end, the Rattlers rallied to defeat Churchill 5-2 to capture San Marcos’ first Bi-District Championship since 2016.
