Texas State junior forward Kaylee Davis was named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

The Allen native received the honor for the second week in a row. Davis earned the award after putting up two goals in Texas State’s Sun Belt-opening 4-0 win over Louisiana-Monroe.

Davis scored her first goal in the 17th minute of the Bobcats’ annual Teal Match for ovarian cancer awareness. The junior forward got the Bobcats on the board when sophomore midfielder Mackenzie Smith earned possession and sent the ball to her. Davis put the shot in the lower left corner out of the goalkeeper's reach.

Davis scored her second goal of the match in the 51st minute to give the Bobcats a 3-0 advantage.

Davis took 11 shots against ULM and placed six on goals. Her shot total is tied for second in program history. She was only one shot attempt away from matching a career-high and school record, which she set against Appalachian State last year.

This is the second time in the last two years that the Bobcats have had a player named the Sun Belt’s Offensive Player of the Week for consecutive weeks. Kassi Hormuth earned the honor in back-to-back weeks last season.

Texas State continues Sun Belt play on Friday against Louisiana in Lafayette, La. at 7 p.m.
