Texas State junior forward Kaylee Davis and junior goalkeeper Heather Martin received honors from the United Soccer Coaches.

Davis and Martin were both named to United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Teams. Davis became the first Texas State player to be named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Team. She was named to the All-America Third Team.

Davis, a food and nutrition major, holds a 3.59 GPA. She was placed on the All-West first team.

Davis, an Allen native, tied a Bobcat record with 18 goals this season, which earned her the Sun Belt Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year awards.

Martin was placed on the All-West second team. She holds a 4.0 GPA as a psychology major and was also named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Second Team.

The Midlothian native recorded 91 saves in goal in 2018. Martin set single-season Texas State records with a 0.45 goals against average, .919 save percentage and nine shutouts. She finished second in the nation in save percentage. Martin was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year.

Davis and Martin are the only Sun Belt players to recognized on an all-region scholar team. The duo joins Chandler Cooney, Rachel Grout and Kassi Hormuth as the only Bobcats to receive the accolades.

Softball: Bobcats add utility player

Texas State announced Tuesday that Cassie Valdez has committed to the Bobcats.

"We are excited to add Cassie to our roster because she can contribute to our program in a number of ways," head coach Ricci Woodard said in a statement. "She has the athleticism to be a true utility and play almost anywhere on the field. We will use her in the circle some, while allowing her to compete for a spot in our infield. We look forward to seeing what she will accomplish in her four seasons with us."

Valdez, who attended Brownsville Veterans Memorial High School, was named the 32-6A All-District Offensive Player of the Year twice. She helped lead Veterans Memorial to UIL Area Championships in 2015 and 2017.
