SMPD Investigates traffic fatality

San Marcos Police responded to a single-vehicle, fatality accident on Friday morning.

SMPD is investigating the incident that occurred on Post Road. San Marcos Police, Fire and Hays County EMS were dispatched to the 1800 block of Post Road for a major collision involving a motorcycle, officials said.

Justin David Malott, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene by Hays County Justice of the Peace Jo Anne Prado, police said. Next of Kin has been notified.

Malott was driving his 2018 Harley Davidson Motorcycle northbound on Post Road before he left the roadway to his right and hit a tree, according to an initial investigation conducted by the San Marcos Police Collision Investigation Team. Official ssay there is no indication that any other vehicle was involved.

Friday morning’s accident is the seventh traffic fatality in San Marcos in 2019.
