Kyle police investigating motorcycle accident fatality

A man was killed Sunday night in a single-vehicle motorcycle accident in Kyle, police said Monday. 

The accident occurred around 10:40 p.m. near the Sonic on FM 150, Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett said. Daniel Rodriguez, 41, was the lone occupant on the motorcycle. Rodriguez, who’s a Kyle resident, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said. 

“The driver was headed westbound and veered off the road, striking a trailer parked in the grass,” Barnett said. “The road was closed until about 2 a.m. while officers conducted their investigation.”

Rodriguez was transported from the scene by Hays County/San Marcos EMS to Ascension Seton Hays, where he was later pronounced dead by Hays County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Beth Smith. An autopsy has been ordered.
