SMCISD board to consider pay increase for staff

The San Marcos Consolidated ISD Board of Trustees will consider a possible pay increase in its annual compensation plan for all district employees during Monday’s regular meeting.

The board will weigh five options. The first option would keep the district’s pay scale frozen in its current rate. The second option would increase teacher and administration salaries by 1% and include a $0.25 pay raise for paraprofessional, clerical and other staff. Option three would increase teacher and administration salaries by 1% and would include a $0.50 pay increase for paraprofessional, clerical and other staff. The fourth option would raise teacher and administrator salaries by 1.5% and would include a $0.50 pay increase for paraprofessional, clerical and other staff. The fifth option would increase teacher and administration salaries by 1% and would include a $1 pay increase for paraprofessional, clerical and other staff.

The board will also consider taking action on an increase in the District Health Insurance Contribution for 2020-2021 for SMCISD employees. The trustees will also consider possible approval of stipends for the 2020-21 school year

The board will consider approval of a resolution which would end the district’s emergency closure related to the COVID-19 pandemic. If passed, the resolution would end the closure effective on June 1.

The trustees will also consider acceptance of the Rodriguez Elementary Bond Project. The board will also consider approving members for the School Health Advisory Council for the 2020-21 school year.

The trustees are set to discuss and take possible action regarding the school’s calendar for the upcoming 20-21 school year.

In closed session, the board will discuss the following items: Discussion regarding non-administrative professional personnel contracts for the 2020- 2021 school year; discussion regarding administrative appointments; and a discussion regarding safety and security at commencement. The board will reconvene in open session to take possible action on the closed session items.
