The San Marcos Consolidated ISD Board of Trustees is set to hold its regular meeting via Zoom on Monday.

The trustees will consider budget amendments, regarding the purchase of an additional 100 hot spots for students to access online instruction and the request to purchase teacher laptops and student device repair parts.

The additional hot spots will cost the district $16,500, while the laptops and repair parts total $10,000, according to the board’s meeting book.

The trustees will also consider the approval of Proclamation 2020. According to the board’s agenda material, “Proclamation 2020 specifies the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) against which materials are evaluated. Instructional materials under Proclamation 2020 were adopted by the (Texas State Board of Education) in November 2019 for use in classrooms starting with the 2020–2021 school year. To fund purchases of instructional materials and technology in support of TEKS-based instruction, the Texas Legislature provides school districts every 2 years with a technology and instructional materials allotment.”

The board will also consider approval of a contract with Seidel Construction for renovations at Goodnight Middle School in the amount of $1,565,700.

The trustees will discuss and consider approval of an educator appraisal waiver, action to accept the district’s Child Development Center renovation and action to  accept the Hernandez Elementary School reroof bond project.

The board will also consider possible action on calendar adjustments, funding needs and other possible issues related to COVID-19 and its impact on the upcoming 2020-21 school year.

The trustees will convene in closed session to discuss administrator contract renewals and extensions; discuss teacher and other professional personnel contract renewals; and hold a discussion regarding SMCISD real property located at 211 Lee Street and address possible development of the property by a private land developer and whether the development would be beneficial for the district.
