TDEM testing to begin at San Marcos High School

Sunday, August 23, 2020

Free COVID-19 testing will begin Monday at San Marcos High School.

The testing is being provided by the Texas Division of Emergency Management, City of San Marcos and Hays County from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. stretching from Monday through Saturday. Alongside a test site at San Marcos High School, located at 2601 Rattler Road, testing will also be done in Kyle at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center — 979 Kohlers Crossing.

“We are pleased to bring additional free COVID-19 testing opportunities to Hays County,” Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra said in a statement. “We know how important testing is to continue to battle COVID-19.”

Testing will be conducted on a first come, first served basis. Participants will be required to wear a face covering while at either testing site.

“By offering free testing to our communities each day for a full week, TDEM is helping us remove the cost and time barriers that many of our residents face,” City of San Marcos Director of Public Safety Chase Stapp said. “We hope that anyone who would like to be tested will take advantage of this opportunity.”

Testing is open to all ages. Participants are asked not to eat or drink anything 30 minutes prior to being tested. Results are expected to be delivered 72-96 hours after a test is administered, the City of San Marcos said in a news release.

Testing conducted at both sites will be done by Davaco, which TDEM developed a public-private partnership. For questions about the tests and results, contact Davaco Inc. at 833-213-0643 or by email covid@davacoinc.com.
