The city of San Marcos Parks and Recreation will be putting on the its annual fireworks show this Independence Day starting at 9:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Bobcat Stadium.

Summer is Art Squared

On a bright Saturday morning earlier this summer, stretched across a blocked-off street in front of the historic Hays County Courthouse, flowers abounded and a string of portable cabanas showcased vendors who were offering anything from hand-crocheted hats to poems crafted on a vintage typewriter by a man who only goes by the name, Derrick.

Caldwell County recognizes 17th anniversary of death of PFC Menchaca

The Caldwell County Judge Hoppy Haden and Commissioners issued a Proclamation Commemorating the 17th Anniversary of the Death of U.S. Army Private First Class Kristian Menchaca.

Indeed, there’s no substitute for feeling fit and healthy in summer.

Board of trustees approves school marshal language

The San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to approve the language for the upcoming school marshal program, six to one, with Trustee at Large Dr. Mari Salmi casting the dissenting vote. The board also received an operations update from the SMCISD Director of School Safety Doug Wozniak at last week's regularly scheduled meeting.
