In a surprise turn of events Wednesday, it was announced that Hays County District Clerk Avrey J. Anderson has filed a petition calling for the removal from office of Hays County District Attorney Kelly Higgins.
San Marcos Police Department officials are praising the teamwork among members of its own officers and staff and those of neighboring law enforcement agencies, following the official announcement of an investigation that resulted in the arrests of three people now charged in connection to charges of kidnapping and the smuggling of undocumented immigrants, as previously reported in the San Marcos Daily Record.
The United States now exports more liquefied natural gas (LNG) than any other country. It’s a relatively new development, with Australia and Qatar usually topping the rankings in the past. The volume of US exports has surged over the past few years, with major new facilities coming online and strong global demand. While Australia and Qatar volumes have been fairly stable since 2018, US exports have basically quadrupled.

A Ken Paxton whistleblower testified Tuesday that the attorney general took an unusually intense interest in a charity’s lawsuit against Nate Paul in 2020, leading to the belief that Paxton had “turned over” his office to Paul.

In a state-ranked top 10 showdown between district rivals, the Wimberley Lady Texans fell to the Davenport Lady Wolves 3-0 (2225, 19-25, 23-25).
DEAR ABBY: I’m a recovering alcoholic who has been sober for more than 12 years. My road to sobriety has been long and dark, but I am proud of turning my life around and staying sober. My problem is how my mother treats me about it. She keeps reminding me of all the mistakes I made and the people I hurt when I was still drinking.
Hays County Commissioners Court held one of its shorter regularly scheduled meetings Tuesday, adjourning for executive session after only an hour and a half. It was still long enough, though, for commissioners to look at current statistics for the Hays County Jail and to extensively consider what to do about a unique employee benefit concern.

Charlie Robison who made a career in country music and who once called San Marcos home during his time as a student athlete at then Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University, has died. He was 59.
The interplay of colors and patterns and the intricate piecework that combine to produce quilts is on display until Sept. 28 at City Hall.
