THE ECONOMIST: Essential employees

Although the numbers are temporarily decreasing as growth moderates and uncertainty rises, there remain about 9.6 million job openings across the country. Employers of all types and sizes are affected by labor shortages, with major challenges in leisure and hospitality, professional and business services, and health care and social assistance. We presently need 1.6 million health care and social assistance workers and 1.3 million accommodation and food services employees.

Bobcats bring home National Golf Invitational Championship

The Bobcats were hungry following a rough last day at the Sun Belt Conference Championships which saw Texas State fall from a top five spot all the way down to 8th place.

HONOR FALLEN HEROES

The Memorial Day Ceremony at the Hays County Veterans Memorial was heralded by the melodic tunes of the Aquarena Springs Symphonic Band, fitting for a service in honor of those who have given their lives for the good of the community and the nation.

State Sen. Judith Zaffarini passes another of the 122 bills passed by her during the 2023 legislative session that adjourned Monday. She was the legislature’s highest bill-passer for the fifth consecutive session and has passed more bills than any legislator in the history of the State of Texas.

Senator Judith Zaffirini passed 122 bills during the 88 th Texas Legislature that adjourned sine die [without another day] Monday, bringing her total bills passed to 1,388.
