COMING BACK TOGETHER: SMCISD welcomes employees back with convocation ceremonies

The dictionary describes a convocation as a group of people formally assembled for a special purpose, mostly academic. In the case of San Marcos CISD faculty, teachers and administration it was that and more. On Friday, hundreds filled the Embassy Suite banquet facilities to reflect on an extraordinary year full of challenges and to celebrate the school year to come. San Marcos Lions Club donates $45,000 in scholarships, gift cards for SMCISD teachers

San Marcos Lions Club has given more than $170,000 total to nonprofits, including $45,000 in scholarship to graduating seniors. In 2019 the club gave away more than $350,000 to nonprofits. The Lions also gave $5,500 in $50 gift cards to teachers at San Marcos Consolidated ISD campuses. San Marcos celebrates Rotary Youth Exchange Program

Shannon Fitzpatrick traveled to Austria from San Marcos as a Rotary Youth Exchange student in 1978, She shares her experience at the Rotary meeting on Aug. 18. San Marcos Rotary is 100 years old this year and plans to celebrate different programs supported by Rotary. One is the youth exchange, which brings young people from other countries to San Marcos, and sponsors San Marcos youth to go abroad.
