The Hays Central Appraisal District is one of 50 in the state that will now hold an election for three newly created seats on the district’s board of directors and the filing deadline for the new positions is Feb. 16. As of Tuesday afternoon, no candidates have filed for the positions.

Faculty members from the Alliance of Researchers in Aging (ARIA) at Texas State University will return to the Price Center on February. 16 at 1 p.m. for their second workshop offering on Aging Well. The event is free and open to the public. A reservation is recommended.

In a proactive approach to the election, Hays County has created the Elections Integrity Task Force comprised of the Hays County Elections Office, District Attorney’s Office and local law enforcement agencies in an effort to streamline the process for investigating allegations and maximize county resources.

Rudy Joe Luis Romero, 18, of Kyle, was arrested last week and charged with four felonies, including two counts of Aggravated Robbery after a string of incidents throughout Hays County.

DEAR ABBY: My sister-inlaw on my wife’s side stayed a week and a half with us in Florida. I love her very much, and we all had a lovely visit. She has stayed with us before, alone and with my brother-in-law. We welcome them with open arms. Family means a lot to us.

Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra said that the new roadway would be a boon to the local economy in San Marcos.
The Texas Department of Transportation held a ribbon cutting along with state, county and local officials for the culmination of the FM 110 North project that now creates an eastern loop around Interstate 35 in San Marcos.
