“Lobby Hero” opened on Friday at the Price Center, and continues with a matinee performance today at 2 p.m. The play will also feature performances at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17 and 18 and matinees at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 19.

Broke Thespians latest show aims to make change

This November, Broke Thespians Theatre Company is opening off-Broadway’s riveting “Lobby Hero” by Kenneth Lonergan. A gripping drama set in a Manhattan apartment lobby, this play delves into moral choices and loyalty during a murder investigation. It is a thought-provoking exploration of truth and integrity on stage, tackling the hot-button issue of police corruption. Can catch the show at 8 p.m. on Nov. 17 and 18 at The Price Center (222 W San Antonio St.) or attend a matinee at 2 p.m. on Nov. 12, 18 and 19.

Ignacio & Manuelita Garza (Garza-Hernandez' great grandparents and original owners of properties) passed down their properties to Marcos & Fidela Garza (Garza-Hernandez' grandparents) who were forced to move when their properties were seized by imminent domain in order to make Rio Vista Park.

History is important; it teaches people who they are and where they come from and it gives examples of the impacts of certain behaviors–both positive and negative. A well-documented historical record can also provide people with access to knowledge that would otherwise be forgotten.

County, Austin Pets Alive! to host Pet Resource Center meetings

Hays County and Austin Pets Alive! have announced their November community meetings for the public to learn more about the Hays County Pet Resource Center. Community members are invited to attend to hear updates about the project, ask questions, and share their insights regarding the needs of people and pets in Hays County. There are four meetings scheduled throughout November in each precinct.
