Residents mourn loss of historic downtown building

Preservationists in San Marcos are mourning the loss of a building on the impending National Register of Historic Places that is being demolished to make room for a multifamily development.

Chief Petty Officer Boatswain’s Mate Utah Hamilton passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2019, after an extended illness. Utah was a ‘jack of all trades’ and could fix just about anything.
