After a months-long standoff among Texas’ top Republicans, state GOP lawmakers finally struck a deal Monday on how to cut Texans’ property taxes.
The Hays County Commissioners Court is set to possibly approve the funding of improvements at the Hays County Jail, possibly approve the payment of $250,000 of county funds for debris removal and cleanup from Winter Storm Mara and possibly executive agreements for La Cima Improvement Districts at the regularly scheduled meeting today.

This past weekend in San Marcos, a wildfire off of Hilliard Road burned an area of approximately 50 acres. There were no structural losses or loss of life reported, but the wildfire is just one indication of an environment under stress by weeks of excessive heat.

Following a nationwide search, Buda City Manager, Micah Grau, has appointed Lindsey N. Baker, MPA, as assistant city manager. Baker will assume her duties on July 17, and will oversee the Communications, Parks and Recreation, Destination Services, Library, and Information Technology departments, and legislative affairs.

Hays County officials stated there were several incidents involving graffiti and small fires at 5 Mile Dam Park this past week.
House Democrats’ tax plan would help renters Texas House Democrats unveiled a $20.9 billion plan for property tax relief that drops tax rates, increases the homestead exemption, gives annual rebates to renters, and includes pay raises for teachers, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
