South Hays, area fire departments put out brush fire in San Marcos

South Hays Fire Department alongside firefighters from San Marcos, Wimberley, York Creek, Seguin and Geronimo responded to a large brush fire at Old Bastrop Road in San Marcos on Friday. Editor’s note: March 29 was chosen as National Vietnam War Veterans Day because on March 29, 1973, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam was disbanded, and the last U.S. combat troops departed the Republic of Vietnam. The Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 was signed into law by 45th U.S. President Donald J. Trump, designating March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day. Below is a look at one local veteran and his experience in Vietnam.
