Bowie Elementary Champions spent Friday, March 24 running. With their teachers, family and friends supporting them, students took part in Bowie’s Run-A-Thon. Champions walked, jogged and ran for 30 minutes all in an effort to raise funds for Bowie’s PE program. Students’ parents supported their Champions’ participation in the Run-A-Thon by donating funds for each lap completed. All proceeds will go toward this year’s Field Day, equipment, camps and more.

I was introduced to the carceral system on March 5th, 2018 when my good friend Devonte Amerson and I were wrongfully accused and placed in Hays County Jail, where we faced seemingly insurmountable circumstances fighting for our justice and freedom. Unfortunately, this is the case for millions of Americans each day that have been subjected to the cruel criminal legal system that exists in this country and in our “Great State of Texas” for the past 50 years.

Bobcats take first place at Craft Farms Championship

Texas State men’s golf won the team title at the Craft Farms Intercollegiate finishing three-under and never dropping out of the top spot. This is the second team championship for the Bobcats this season.

The official proclamation made by Texas Governor Greg Abbott declaring that the month of March will be recognized as Athletic Training Month. 2023 marks 50 years of athletic trainers being licensed as health professionals. The goal of the proclamation is to recognize and help further the progress athletic trainers have made in their goal of caring for student athletes.

Texas State announces major foundation gift to assist Latino students

The Hector and Gloria López Foundation, an organization that provides tertiary educational opportunities for Latino students in Texas, announced Monday that they are donating $1.79 million to Texas State to assist first generation, Latino students that have been accepted to Texas State University for the fall of 2023.
