The San Marcos Police Department, along with other city departments, conducted a criminal trespass operation at the Sutton Apartments, 518 Linda Drive, on Friday, Oct. 13, which encompasses 84 total apartment units, according to a press release Monday.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is delisting 21 species from the Endangered Species Act due to extinction, including the San Marcos gambusia, a fish that was endemic to the San Marcos River.
The San Marcos City Council is set to receive a staff presentation and hold a public hearing today with regard to its considerations of approving both the Vision SMTX Comprehensive Plan and the Downtown Area Plan.

Martindale Community Library hosts annular eclipse viewing event
Texas State University has been named among “America’s Top Colleges” for 2023 by Forbes.
A fire early Monday destroyed most of the Country Corner Store located on Redwood Road, near Crossover and Old Gin roads. At time of press, no cause for the fire was available and there were no injuries reported. Responding were the York Creek Volunteer Fire Department, San Marcos Fire Department and other nearby fire and emergency agencies.

A sweeping ban on COVID-19 vaccine mandates for employees of private Texas businesses passed the Texas Senate early Friday, although medical facilities would be allowed to enact other policies to help lower the risks to vulnerable patients.
San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District's Hernandez Heroes from Hernandez Elementary School show off their ballet skills during the school's Ballet Club. Under the direction of Mrs. Jones, kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders are taking part in this club activity where each youngster learns multiple dance routines.
