The Juneteenth Foundation, Inc., combined good food with an historic perspective as it hosted its classic Fish Fry event on Friday, taking note that this is the month that takes a look back at the ending of slavery in Texas.

Two-time All-American and Texas State record holder Claude Mathis was named to the 2024 College Football Hall of Fame Ballot as the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame released the complete list of names early Monday.

With a new meet and confer agreement approved for the officers he leads, San Marcos Police Department Chief Stan Standridge came to a recent meeting of the San Marcos Rotary Club to bring its members up to date on his goals and insights regarding public safety in the community.

The San Marcos Public Library lawn was buzzing with all the excitement local children could bring Friday. Generating the enthusiasm was the Summer Kick-Off party hosted by the library. This was an opportunity to celebrate both the beginning of summer and to let loose after the conclusion of the school year. Children found a bounty of activities to get them motivated to spend time at the library this summer, enjoying this year’s theme, “Up, Up and Away.”
