Exploring Nature: Lark Sparrow
On a mild winter day, I recently visited the Patsy Glenn Refuge in Wimberley and sat for a while in the large bird blind at the back of this two-acre property.

How can a story so hopeless as the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice possibly deliver a message of hope? For those unfamiliar with the story, it goes something like this: Orpheus and Eurydice are in love, yet on their wedding day, Eurydice is fatally bitten by a snake. Distraught, Orpheus goes into the Underworld to plead with Hades and Persephone to see his bride released back to the living world.
The Garden Guy would like to officially declare 2022 ‘Encore Year of the Hardy Hibiscus.’ I don’t know how the National Garden Bureau judges the success of any particular year’s celebration, but I am feeling Summerific French Vanilla helped Old Norm hit it out of the park in 2021.

I remind myself that the purpose of my column is about people and their relationship with Jesus Christ. With the impact the COVID-19 has had on our world, we now spend less time outside the home. It follows we have more time for reflection, Bible study, and prayer. We can meditate on how we can live in “peace within” no matter what challenges we face. The world is calling Believers to be genuine as we “practice what we preach.”
When the weather begins to turn cold, thoughts of comfort food immediately begin to surface.
First and foremost, a very happy 2022 to every one of you.
As we turn the page to a new year, I am relieved to say that from an economic perspective, things are definitely looking up.
