CONWAY A CROWD-PLEASER

It was a star-studded Conservative lineup coming together for the Hays County Republican Party Lincoln-Reagan Dinner in San Marcos. More than 600 gathered at the Embassy Suites San Marcos Hotel and Conference Center for the annual fundraiser on Thursday. Several heavy hitters of the Republican Party, including Lt. Col. Allen West, Republican Party of Texas chairman, attended the event. But it was Guest of Honor Kellyanne Conway who stole the show, revisiting with the crowd her time spent with President Donald Trump and a little about herself.

San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson and San Marcos Consolidated ISD Superintendent Michael Cardona highlighted the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual State of the City luncheon.

Rotary Club of San Marcos awards scholarship to SMA senior

San Marcos Academy senior Evan Schawe received a $2,000 Rotary Club of San Marcos scholarship on Wednesday, April 28 in a ceremony at the Academy. His parents are John and Meredith Schawe. Wendell Hethcock, chair of the club’s scholarship committee, presented the scholarship and read letters of recommendation and tribute from Schawe's Academy instructors. Schawe plans to attend Texas A&M University in the fall as Business Honors major.

KZSM — Spreading joy from Chelmsford

Most of our programming at KZSM.org originates right here in the San Marcos area, but we do broadcast a few carefully selected shows created elsewhere. Of those, one of our favorites is “The Mop Tops and The King” (Mondays, 9-10 p.m.) produced by Steve Chelmsford from Chelmsford, Massachusetts. In addition to the music of The Beatles and Elvis Presley, this lively, upbeat show includes history, anecdotes, and brief interviews with Chelmsford’s listeners from all over the world.
