Texas Mutual Insurance Company, a policyholder- owned company and the state’s leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance, has distributed $340 million in dividends to over 69,000 Texas businesses, representing approximately 92% of the company’s policyholders, according to a press release Wednesday.
Household debt in the United States is at an alltime high – more than $17 trillion. Of that amount, the lion’s share, almost $12.4 trillion, is for housing, and credit card obligations recently topped $1 trillion. These are big numbers, and they are rising. The question is whether they are a cause for concern. The short answer is “not really” given current conditions, though there are some underlying issues which bear watching.

Declared Emergency Preparedness Month, this September various organizations in Hays County have emphasized tips for staying safe, lauding the work of staffs that protect this community in all areas of emergency management. A key event was the 6th Annual Emergency Preparedness Fair: 'Celebrating Community Heroes,' hosted by the Hays County Office of Emergency Services at Heroes Memorial Park in Kyle, that brought out all the equipment including a Black Hawk helicopter and first responders who normally work behind the scenes.
