July Moreno was happily surprised when she received the call, she had been nominated for the Rogers Family Tourism Award — although it wasn’t the first time.

San Marcos Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution award local students with National Defense medals

The San Marcos Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently awarded local students with National Defense medals, offering scholarships to the Gold Medal winners. These medals are presented to cadets who, in the judgment of their military instructors, have performed their military studies in an outstanding manner. The winners were as follows:

REMEMBERING THE FALLEN

Police officers filled the rotunda of the Hays County Government Center on Thursday. Taps played as the officers saluted, honoring the county’s, state’s and nation’s fallen officers in 2020.

Tiffany Henderson is one of many Texas State University students that could barely contain her excitement as she christened her new class ring. The event, known as the Ring Ceremony, took place at the Meadow Center over the weekend. Students placed their ring under a new fountain where water that was pumped from the San Marcos River to christen the piece of jewelry.
